Buxfer is still my personal finance tracking tool

I been using buxfer to track my personal finance for the past 1 year , it doesn’t have a lot of fantasitc feature but it does meet my need most of the time, but i m looking for new service/software to replace it. This is one of my major goal during my long holidays, but in the end i can’t find a replacement software/service.

At first ,I m thinking of give rudder or mint a try, since both are famous personal finance service and mint even have a iphone/ipod touch apps that can sync.

Buxfer is still my personal finance tracking tool

But in the end i give up on both after i complete the registration , because i have a big problem once i want to start using this 2. Both service need you to create an actual account, which mean you need to select your bank, fill in your bank login and there are some sync feature to sync your bill , there are no option for you to create an virtual account.I m still not comfortable to just give my bank login like this to a service, i rather create a virtual account and do import of my billing monthly and normally i will create a cash account to tracking my cash on hand, but nope i m unable to do this on both.

since online service unable to meet my need, i thinking of using what i purchase during machest bundle , cha-ching.

Buxfer is still my personal finance tracking tool

On the first look cha-ching just like a typical mac app software with the mac style interface but after i test it a while and import my data ( which backup from buxfer ) i find out one of the big problem, there are no option for sharing transaction, i having this type of transaction quite often, pay certain amount of money first for 2~3 people share, during end of the month calculate the total sum and getting back the money, it doesn’t seem like it can be done on Cha-Ching, not sure the_coming_soon cha-ching 2.0 having this feature ?

In the end, i still stick with buxfer , maybe with some new feature coming, i might really consider to subscribe buxfer pro ?

3rd post in December

My bad, the whole december until now then writing my 3rd post, lots of thing happen in this month, some of the these person issue did affect my blogging interest and at the same time i was spending a little too much time on WOW.

I started my long holidays around 20th Dec, but it seem like i have complete very little thing so far, of course some lesson learned and i think for 2008 , i have done quite badly for my 2008 resolutions.

Of course in stead of keep regret on what i have done, what i never complete, i m telling & remind myself to look forward for 2009, you can’t get back what you had lost , you can only move forward and do it better next time.

Ding! LV80 finally

After a few week of leveling finally my mage became lv 80 during last saturday, which is currently the latest Wrath of the Lick King level cap. This explain why the blog seem like suddenly slow down, argh !

Ding! LV80 finally

anyway when i reach lv 80 , i still got around 3~4 zone haven’t explore , this might be my next target, but if can i would try to reach this target more casually ( i m quite casual already ). My impression for this expansion is quite good, there are some of cool quest and there are some interesting story telling, i enjoy very much , i wonder when will my druid become lv 80 too ? maybe not so soon.

think about switch host

As usual the chaging hosting company has become a habit to me, i m reading some of the my old post regarding known host and media temple, how i wish known host can be cheaper or media temple can be more stable.

Anyway i have just order geekstorage’s vps, initial impression not really good, it took around 4 day to get my vps ready and the experience of the vps not really that good, quite often i will have a “pause pause” situation , i wonder is it disk IO issue ?

I do think about using linode or slicehost and be my own server admin , but it seem like those are required more skill which i don’t really have time to polish it for now. argh

My Sitex Hoot

I m on leave last friday just for this event - Sitex 2008, because i know there are quite a few thing i need to buy which i don’t want to squeeze in weekend crowd. These are what i hoot on sitex 2008 @ expo

My Sitex Hoot

  • Omnia, finally my gal manage to get this phone at $488, she miss the xmas road show for $438 but lucky she didn’t miss this one, retail price is $599 with 2 year plan
  • Philips 19 inch Wide screen LCD for my gal, original she plan to get it for her mum , but i think now she going to use it and pass her old one 17 inch to her mum, any way Philips is having 3 pixel warranty, within 3 year on site support, the LCD cost below $200.
  • EEEBox - bought it for my parent to use, you won’t believe how many thing it squeeze in this tiny little box, hardware part which impress me is having wireless support, software part will be the splashtop feature , the slightly turn off will be using DVI port for monitor ( because i just pass my old 19inch CRT to my mum , CRT don’t have DVI port ), another plus point is free mouse and keyboard.
  • MSI Wind Black , i been struggle to choose a netbook for quite some time, finally i m settle down with MSI Wind - $729 for 6 cell , 2GB , 10 inch netbook , i think it’s quite a good deal
  • Belkin Slim Backpack - i m a bag lover and this baby is about $30 off from the retail price which i think quite worth it.
  • Cyber Clean - $15 for 4 which is quite cheap, thanks for @acidz intro , this little help me clean quite  a lot of dirt from my keyboard.

p/s i m glad that i bought MSI Wind, my original choice - Lenovo S10 has drop from $799 to $699 during weekend, where the MSI Wind i bought only drop from $729 to $699, if i pay $100 more for 1 day different , i will be quite regret for my choice.
