Windows Live Mail can’t run on firefox

I m suprize , it happen that i find out there are 300+ email on my hotmail account, although mostly should be spam and it’s not my main email account, but i still planning to do some clean up , just in case there are some important email accident slip through.

But Windows Live Mail unable to load on Firefox, i thought it’s almost a standard that most of the web apps are aiming on cross browser support, how come Windows Live Mail still being so protective ? IE only ? in the end i just been redirect to some old hotmail interface which isn’t that impressive.

If you have time to send firefox dev team a cake, maybe spend more time to fix this ? some of the solution can be found in this blog post’s comments but seem like it still on and off happen.

Thematic Upgrade

I have just upgrade thematic to the latest version. Thematic is the wordpress theme framework that i use on this blog currently, i blog about it during V9 release and V9 part 2

I am happy with their latest release which provide custom hooks and filter , i have just recode some of the part of my child theme, all the google ads on my them now is embeded through the function.php, which mean any upgrade of the thematic in future, i can just overwrite it and without rewrite the the code.

I think in future maybe all the famous theme will work in this direction ? which allow easy customize and easy for upgrade. Anyway i tweak some of the css also , font size increase by 1px , let me know if you think the font size is too big ? or too small.

Nope, i don’t have any tips on it, but i would like to recommend an article for it, WordPress SEO - Definitive Guide To High Rankings For Your Blog .

You might ask there are so many SEO article out there , why am i recommend this article ? because this article not only talking about the seo theory , it mention about what plugin you can use to seo your wordpress blog, what setting you should put, which is more idiot proof.

I have follow some of the guideline , let’s see during the next google page rank update , what will happen on my blog.

Best world of warcraft pick up line

It happen that someone is giving out his beta key , but the condition is you need to come out with the best pick up line which of course related to world of warcraft.

If you didn’t play world of warcraft , you might not be able to catch some of the joke, i haven’t finish reading all but these are some of the “epic” joke.

- drop rate means how often the item drop ? normally it drop after you kill some of the monster in game

- rolled on , normally when a group of people form a party for questing dungeon, they will roll numbers to decide who can get the unique item, same theory as roll the dice, BOP means bind of pickup, some of item is BOP means after you pick up, you can’t pass it to other people to use.

- in world of warcraft, epic weapon/armor is purple color, its almost consder the best item , other then the very rare legendary weapon.

If the faction is your love, I’d grind it all day and night

- there is faction reputation , to gain some of the faction special item , normally you to grind ( farming ) some of the dungeon or item.

I happen to saw this post on usingmac web site - 22 wordpress them that inspired by Mac.

The first theme is getting my attention, but i think it will be too fancy for my liking. Other then this i use the i3theme on this blog before. hmmm … i m thinking to have a mac blog , maybe i should select one theme to use it ?

Antispam Service

When talking about antispam service ( service that willl identify spam from comments thats submit to your blog) , most of the people might only think about akismet because of wordpress , in fact there are 2 other service that i found when i doing research recently

take a look download page on Defensio , you can see it support different type of blogging engine, movable type which is using perl , Mephisto which is using ruby on rails and it also support habari , a very new blogging engine.

For Mollom , althought their download page might not as impressive as Defensio, but it support 3 of the major engine, which is drupal , worpdress and joomla, my dev blog currently is using Mollom when i get fedup for using akismet on drupal, so far it serve me well, none of the spam get through yet.

Just list out this 2 other choice if you are using wordpress or maybe you wish to use a self host anti spam like spam karma which just gpled.

Firefox repeat crashing

Yesterday as usual when i try to launch my firefox , it ask me to upgrade some plugin, so i just upgrade without thinking twice and this bring me continue crash on starting of my firefox.

Every time i start firefox it will just crash and prepare to send report , so i did some research and try to launch my firefox in safemode, just fire up terminal and type

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode

so this actually allow me to launch the firefox safe mode menu ,my first try is just continue in the safe mode and disable the plugin i just upgrade, restart my firefox, it still crash . Second time i checked the option disable all add-ons, finally my firefox launch successfully. after this i just turn on add on one by one to see which one causing problem, but this time no problem at all, firefox can be restart after each addon turn on.

Anyway this solve my crashing problem, worse come to worse i will suggest reset all user preference, if you are not on Mac, this should be help - how to start firefox safe mode on other os
